A several day pack trip is the ultimate way to explore the mountains of central Colorado. This is an area largely unknown to most people, a region of hills and valleys, unexpected streams and draws, forgotten mines and homesteads. It is a mix of wilderness and high mountain ranches. You'll come across magnificent rock formations, ancient bristlecone pines, herds of elk.
We offer two kinds of trips. The traditional approach is to bring an extra horse or mule for each three to four riders, to carry food and camping supplies. This works well, but leading the pack animals does reduce the amount of ground that gets covered. An alternative which is popular with some riders, especially those who are also backpackers, is to travel very lightly, with all supplies in small rucksacks and saddlebags. Whichever style of pack trip you prefer, we can accommodate you. As with our other adventures, all supplies and food are taken care of (3 meals per day, horses and tack, camp gear).
- Starting at: $300 per person per day, 2 person minimum (multi-day discounts available)
Prices are based on a group of 2-6 riders. Contact us for single rider or large group pricing- we try to be flexible!
